There is something magical about a pen – it allows uninhibited and clear flow of thought. I believe that the writing of a person throws much more light into their psyche and ideologies than a live conversation with them. This is especially true of ‘thinkers’ and ‘idealists’. They take pride in presenting their thought in a clear and concise manner with enough proof points to make a convincing statement of their ideology.
One such writer is Bharati. Many are familiar with his poetry, especially the ‘popular’ ones that are churned out at every second concert in the music season in Chennai as a token thukada piece. Not a single musician has taken upon themselves the challenge of tuning his composition as a main centre piece item. Wonder why?
Anyway, to continue my piece, everyone knows Bharati the poet, but not many people may have read his short stories or his prose collection. As a writer he is extremely engaging and reveals a very colourful personality. But what he also manages to do is clearly state his ideologies in a humorous way!
I thought I’d share with you some of his stories that I’ve read recently. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share these stories with you. Stay tuned … and PLEASE do talk to me through your comments. Otherwise there is no motivation for me to share knowledge!
